A traditional summer mountain farm, located in a beautiful area at the entrance to Jotunheimen National Park. Cows, goats, horses and lambs are kept on the mountain pastures. Here you can experience the traditional way of making cheese. We serve home made specialities and sell goat cheese, sour cream and butter. The farm is run like the old days of hand milking, churning in wooden casks and cheesemaking with fuelwood. Opening hours: - In July Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays from 12 to 17. - In August to the 20th, Wednesdays and Saturdays from 12 to 17. For other days or larger groups, please call in advance. Offer Sales of sour cream, butter, goat cheese and fresh cheese of sour milk every day. On Wednesdays and Saturdays there is possible to buy cream porridge , waffles, juice and coffee from 12 -17. In July also serving on Mondays. Facebook: Sparstadstolen i Sandalen Getting there by car - From the west: Exit E16 in Øye to run the county road 293 on the north side of the lake Vangsmjøsa towards Vennis. After about 9 km, turn left to Sandalen, a 7 km tollway ( 50 NOK) to the mountain farm located where the road ends. - From the east : Take off from E16 at Hemsing bridge and follow county road 293, first against Hensåsen in 2 km to cross , then towards Vennis. After about 8 km turn right to Sanddalen, a 7 km tollway ( 50 NOK) to the mountain farm located where the road ends. Tour suggestions The Norwegian Tourist Board hut Tomashelleren is only 2-3 hours walking north. The cottage sits on almost 1500 meters and you get 2000 meters peaks between Bygdin and Gjende up close. From mountain farm walk the old track to the Kvithaug. By the lake Langetjedn is Tomashelleren. From here you can proceed on marked trails into Jotunheimen or continue the track to Kvithaug.
