The cycling route over Dovrefjell makes it possible to visit three national parks by bike if you take the whole route; Rondane, Dovre and Dovrefjell. Have your luggage transported and cycle from lodge to lodge, or choose to hike between some of them. Tour de Dovre gives you the flexibility to make your own itinerary, best suited for your holiday adventure.

One route - many variations

Tour de Dovre gives you the flexibility to make your own itinerary, best suited for your holiday adventure.

The area offers plenty of activity options for families, with horseback riding and canoe paddling as two of the highlights among the many possibilities. There are also a wide variety of marked hikes available from the different accommodations, and it's possible to extend your stay with a night or two if you'd like to explore the mountains further on foot.

Inhale the fresh mountain air while biking through historic sights and stunning nature over the Dovrefjell plateau and through the Grimsdalen valley. Tour de Dovre offers views of both green, luxuriant valleys and majestic mountains glazed with snow, as well as shimmering lakes and rushing rivers. The weather can change pretty quickly up here, so wear several layers of clothing and be prepared in case of rain.

Tour de Dovre - The family route

Go on a bike ride up in the Norwegian mountains more or less free from car traffic and experience lush greens and hillsides in red, brown and grey along sparkling blue waters. From Dombås the trail takes you up to the Dovre mountain where you will have the Dovre national park to the one side and the Dovrefjell-Sunndalsfjella national park to the other. The trail is also known as the King’s Road since the Danish-Norwegian kings would ride through here on their way to Trondheim for their coronation ceremonies.
