Long-standing history

Since 1912

The oldest part of this historical hotel was built in 1897, and was at that time named Jotunheimen Turisthotel. In the 1920's, they changed the name to Bygdin Høifieldshotell, and it was at the time one of the most modern tourist hotels in Jotunheimen – with central heating and hot/cold water in all rooms. The Queen Wilhelmina from the Netherlands used to visit Bygdin, and her room is still available for guests to stay in.

Today it is Tor Oxhovd, his two brothers, mother and father that are running the place.
