Perfect basecamp for adventures year-round
Mountain lodge at Vaset in Valdres

Gomobu Fjellstue is a family-owned mountain lodge based at Vaset in Valdres, between Jotunheimen and Hemsedal. The traditional lodge was founded in 1967, and is now a modern hotel with all facilities situated at a 1000 m.a.s.l.

This is the perfect basecamp for soft  adventures, such as snowshoeing, biking, canoeing and beginner-friendly cross country skiing. Right outside the hotel door you will find a variety of hiking trails, groomed cross-country tracks for all levels, marked snowshoe tracks and ski in/ski out to the ski resort Valdres Skiheiser. In the evening you can enjoy an excellent dinner in the restaurant that serves traditional Norwegian food with local commodities.

Long-standing family traditions

Meet the hosts at Gomobu

Gomobu was founded in 1967 by Magnhild and Knut Sveine. 25 years ago, Bjørn and Astrid Sveine took over the management of the mountain lodge and has run it ever since. By the way, did you know that "Gomo" means Grandmother in a Norwegian dialekt? That is also an important part of the atmosphere at Gomobu; just like staying with most grandmother's, it should be a warm and cozy place with great food.

Rooms & amenities

Gomobu, which first opened in 1967, have over the later years been developed into a modern mountain lodge with 10 cabins and 36 rooms, all with private facilities. The hotel also offers cozy common areas like a library and a lounge, in addition to a newly refurbished sauna and a cross-country preparation workshop.
