Skåbu Mountain Hotel is situated in the center of the beautiful little mountain village of Skåbu, and at this charming boutique hotel you stay scenically and homely. Skåbu is Northern Europe's highest settlement (870 m.a.s.l.) and one of Norway's most beautiful villages. Skåbu is part of the Gudbrandsdalen valley and is centrally located on the stairs to the Jotunheimen National Park, surrounded by hospitable mountains, beautiful scenery and old picturesque farms.
The hotel is perfectly located for outdoor activities year-round, with several opportunities from the doorstep. You can pick and choose in beautiful mountain walks, hikes, cultural hiking, rafting in Sjoa, dog sledding, fishing, cycling, skiing or take a short drive to Sikkilsdalen, Jotunheimen and famous peaks such as Besseggen, Glittertind and Galdhøpiggen. How about a visit to the spectacular potholes in Hell?

Jannicke Haug Doksæter and her family fell in love with the small mountain village of Skåbu back in 2008. Whether it was the majestic mountains, the bustling wild life or the warm, hospitable residents that intrigued them the most, they are not really sure. But regardless; they felt welcome and at home in Skåbu since the very beginning. Twelve years later, all three generations of Jannicke's family have moved from the city up to mountains, and together with Henrik Sverdrup Beston she runs both Skåbu Mountain Hotel and Lykkja Mountain Farm.
The mountain hotel is in fact the old grocery shop at Skåbu, and it has been the village's gathering point throughout all times. In this building there is a lot of valuable history, good memories and warm atmosphere. This unique atmosphere will cater for and recreate for Jannicke & Henrik's guests for years to come.

The mountain hotel is situated in the centre of Skåbu mountain village in the Espedalen Valley, a tributary valley to Gudbransdalen, about 250 km from Oslo and 290 km from Trondheim. From Oslo you follow the E6 road towards Lillehammer. At the intersection (number 83) on E6 by Lillehammer, follow the signs to FV255/Gausdal/Storhove/Fåberg. Drive Vestringsvegen to Espedalsvegen, and follow the signs to Skåbu.
